Hello geeks,
I stumbled upon this question while surfing online. And I thought about answering it here, because this is a Q&A blog, really :)
My answer is NO! It's not enough. Now let me tell you why.
The hard drive theory
Many experts are claiming that a fast hard drive is the solution for a smooth loading of the OS and its apps. And the fact that apps are not using so much RAM usually.
My RAM Theory
As an app tester (on my PC) I discovered that any app has updates. The more updated an app, the more RAM amount is required to run.
Google Chrome needed 128 MB of RAM a few years ago when no extensions existed.
Now, without 1 GB of RAM dedicated just for it, it's freezing *** (trust me)
But let's analyze.
Windows, Youtube, Netflix...These are not stiff platforms. They have updates periodically.
You won't feel a big difference between versions at first. And then your apps are starting to freeze and stop responding.
The OS is loading slowly everyday. The maintenance tools are not helping you too much.
So what do you do? You have two options:
Consider upgrading your RAM
If your computer supports this option, then don't waste time. Upgrade now or as soon as possible.
Replace your old modules or add the new modules among the old ones.
Your computer will go obsolete if you don't consider upgrading.
Buying a new computer
Laptop or desktop. That's for you to decide. Sometimes, replacing a whole system, will save you a lot of time and frustration than upgrading it.
But only you can decide for yourself.
Conclusion
Having a 2 GB or RAM setup it's a baby for the monster apps today. I recommend minimum 8 GB of RAM for a reasonable computer experience.
Small RAMS are getting obsolete in time.
Stay connected
Vlad
